29 Aug Energy Saving For All
Winter will be upon us in no time. Energy prices remain high and household budgets are being stretched. CEMVO Scotland have partnered with Changeworks to offer training for volunteers within your community to deliver real results and lower bills. The Energy Saving for All project can provide your community with valuable information on how to be energy aware, reduce costs, and keep cosy.
The project is being led at CEMVO by Qianlin Wang. Qianlin said,
“I am really excited about this project, because it combines so many aspects of the great work which CEMVO carries out across Scotland. We’ll be supporting ethnic minority communities, who are often the hardest hit by increases in bills. We’ll be contributing to the fight against climate change. And we’ll be embedding skills and learning into local communities.”
CEMVO and Changeworks are hosting an event on Wednesday 20th September to offer community groups an opportunity to find out more. The event takes place at the Hidden Gardens in Glasgow’s southside, and runs from 12pm to 3pm. A delicious lunch will be provided, and it’s a great opportunity to speak to Changeworks advisors about the support on offer. This will include:
- Training members of your community as Energy for All volunteers
- A toolkit of resources to help deliver energy advice to your community members including translated energy leaflets and films
- An energy advice comms package to share on your social media channels/ in newsletters providing energy advice and support
- Free Small Measures Packs containing items such as radiator panels, lightbulbs, smart switches for members of your community
- Access to professional energy support and advice from a trained Changeworks energy advisor
Following the event, the hope is that organisations will nominate potential volunteers from their community who are eager to make a difference. These enthusiastic individuals will have the opportunity to participate and contribute positively. Selected volunteers will undergo specialised training provided by Changeworks. Equipped with valuable skills, they will be able to offer invaluable energy advice to ethnic minority households. Upon completion, they will be awarded certificates to recognise their accomplishments.
